US Central Command said it disabled a ship whose crew attempted to run the blockade despite "repeated warnings" on Friday in the Gulf of Oman. Footage released by CENTCOM on Saturday (July 25) shows American forces disabling the Mozambique-flagged tanker M/T Lavine.
CENTCOM also released footage on Saturday showing soldiers completing a verification boarding of the Comoros-flagged tanker M/T Charminar in the Arabian Sea.Reuters could not verify the location or date when the video was recorded. No older versions of the footage were found posted online before July 25. The identity of one of the ships confirmed as Charminar by its shape and colors, which matched archive images. The identity of the other vessel seen at the end of the video could not be verified.
CENTCOM said that American forces continue to enforce a naval blockade against Iran, adding that they had redirected 12 commercial vessels that attempted to reach Iran and disabled two others that failed to comply.
